About Vaishali
Hi, I’m Vaishali and I’m originally from India. I arrived in Darwin in January 2022 to complete my Masters in Social Work at Charles Darwin University (CDU). After commencing my studies online due to the pandemic and Australian border closures, it was so exciting to be able to join my peers on campus. I had always wanted to be an international student in a developed nation so as to be a global citizen and serve the world so this really was a dream come true.
After several years of working in a clinic as a mental health counsellor I wanted to broaden my scope of professionalism to community work. It was then that I began to explore my study options.
The academic and employment opportunities of CDU and Darwin are what initially attracted me to the Northern Territory. I was also taught by a teacher of Aboriginal descent in middle school in India and his stories and values have always stayed with me. I wanted to immerse myself in Larrakia culture so Darwin was a natural choice for me.
During my free time I love visiting one of the many beaches, swimming, cycling and interacting with the locals here. The outdoor lifestyle really suits me and I’m looking forward to continuing to explore this wonderful place that I now call home.
