Update for COVID-19 testing requirements for travellers from China, Hong Kong and Macau

Students talking

From 12:01am on Thursday 5 January 2023, travellers arriving in Australia from China, Hong Kong and Macau will need to undertake a COVID-19 test within 48 hours before their scheduled flight and will need to provide evidence of a negative test result before boarding their flight and again on arrival to Australia.

This applies to travellers arriving in Australia from China, Hong Kong and Macau, either on a direct flight, or on a flight that has a stopover in another country before landing in Australia.

Rapid antigen test (RAT) and nucleic acid amplification technology (NAA) tests, including Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR), are accepted tests. RAT tests must be administered or supervised by a medical practitioner.
