Finalists announced for 2023 Study NT International Student Awards

The Study NT International Student Awards recognise international students' and alumni's impressive accomplishments and contributions to the Northern Territory, and highlight local businesses' support for students and graduates. 

This year, a record number of nominations were received for students and alumni from 18 different nationalities, studying at Charles Darwin University, International House Business College, Alana Kaye College, ACAP Professional Year, Latitude College, St John's Catholic College, International College of Advanced Education and Australian Careers College. 

International students and alumni also nominated their employers who have employed, supported and mentored them. Nominated businesses were also from industries including information technology, education, community and disability support services, hospitality and engineering.

An independent judging panel comprising Austrade, Volunteering NT, Chamber of Commerce NT and Study NT representatives assessed the nominations and selected the following finalists:

Study NT International Student of the Year 

  • Asman Tarofder Asharza from Bangladesh
  • Daisy Twayana from Nepal
  • Victoria Vydra from Argentina
  • Raymond Chimezie Ukaegbu from Nigeria 
  • Raul Montesinos Diaz from Peru

Study NT International Alumni of the Year 

  • Dr Elnaz Saki from Iran
  • Siddhartha Gurung from Nepal
  • Rafat Hossain from Bangladesh
  • Rifat Mahmud from Bangladesh
  • Renu Lama from Nepal

Study NT International Student Volunteer of the Year 

  • Sochima Jennifer Ogo-okonkwo from Nigeria
  • Ruobin Zhang from China
  • Mondira Roy from Bangladesh
  • Deepak Chhetry from Nepal
  • Urszula Bartel from Poland

Study NT International Student Employer of the Year

  • Antonio's Kitchen
  • One IT Services 
  • KPMG 
  • JMJ Disability Services

The winner of the Study NT International Student of the Year will take home a $2,000 cash prize, and the Study NT International Alumni of the Year and International Student Volunteer of the Year will each receive $1,000. Winners will be announced at an awards ceremony at Parliament House on Thursday 16 November.
