Step 1: Exploring your options and setting your goals
- Are there specific industries in the NT that you’re most interested in? What types of positions most appeal to you?
- Are there further skills you’d like to employ or want to develop?
- Are there specific causes you’d like to work on?
Step 2: Research and Prepare
- Immerse yourself in publications and resources from theterritory.com.au to develop a list of target industries and employers across the NT.
- Update your resume so you’re ready to go when opportunities arise.
- Connect with your references and ask if they are willing to be a reference for you and to let them know which kind of positions you’re applying for
- Be proactive! People in the NT love a chat, we absolutely encourage you to reach out to employers and let them know that you’re interested and ask any questions, even before submitting your application. This puts you on their radar!
Step 3: Apply!
- Monitor job boards and use all the helpful resources on theterritory.com.au, like recruitment agencies and job listings.
Step 4: Stay Organized and Follow Up
- Once you’ve connected with contacts or conducted interviews — reflect on any advice or recommendations that were provided, and use this information to follow-up and stay in touch!
- Use your networks to stay connected via things like mutual contacts, LinkedIn and businesses you know are based in the NT, and use these to keep on top of opportunities that may present themselves.
- Make sure the people you’ve applied to and have been speaking to know you’re keen to make the move and live and work in the NT.
It’s time to make your move to the Top — Good luck!
