Jurse Salandanan

As we highlight our previous winners of the International Student of the Year meet, Jurse Salandanan.

Jurse was studying a Bachelor in Design (Architecture) at Charles Darwin University when he won the award in 2019. Since successfully completing his Bachelor in Design (Architecture) and a Certificate IV in residential drafting and design Jurse is now working as a graduate architectural designer at Ashford Architects where he continued his community engagement through design and placemaking.

Jurse says that “winning the International Student of the Year Award provided more benefits than just winning an award, it boosted my confidence and encouraged me to continue volunteering with the community”.

Jurse believes that “this award will help bring international students so many new opportunities now and into the future”. Jurse also has a few tips for anyone who might be considering applying “enjoy each moment, take each step as a learning opportunity. Supply genuine information that will lead you to success, and most importantly, stay positive, do not feel discouraged whether you win or not, even being nominated is a great achievement”.
