Driving tourism and innovation: World’s biggest solar challenge

Dozens of solar cars will begin their 3,000km journey from Darwin to Adelaide as part of the 2019 Bridgestone World Solar Challenge on Sunday 13 October.

This year’s challenge has attracted 45 teams from 22 countries with around 2,000 people including team members, officials and volunteers based in Darwin over the past month preparing for the race.

Held biannually since 1987, the race will start from State Square, Parliament House on Sunday at 8:30am, with teams leaving in succession until 9:30am.
