Tourism is a major economic driver. Annual visitor expenditure in the Territory has increased 50% since March 2012 with strong corporate and business travel driven from major investments in sectors like defence, international education, agribusiness, mining, renewables, logistics and offshore and onshore gas developments.

On screen text: $103 million Turbocharging Tourism stimulus package.

Voiceover: The Territory Government itself is pouring an unprecedented $103 million into tourism over two years building new infrastructure and experiences that will attract increased visitation. A new long term strategic plan will guide this investment through to 2030.

Voiceover: The Territory is on the doorstep of the fastest-growing outbound travel market in the world with direct air services from China, Indonesia and Singapore as well as connections to all Australian capital cities.

A new $200 million luxury waterfront hotel to be operated by Westin to be open by 2021 and in Alice Springs the Territory Government is progressing development of a national Aboriginal art gallery.
